Our Story

From a Small Gaming House to a Helsinki Landmark

Fiksuvalinta opened its doors in the autumn of 2016, when two Helsinki-born entrepreneurs leased a modest floor of a 1920s stone building on Mannerheimintie and fitted it with six gaming tables, a small bar and an unshakeable idea: a casino should be a place you walk into, not a website you log into. The word fiksuvalinta — "a smart choice" — was painted above the entrance in brass letters, and it has guided the house ever since.

The first years were deliberately quiet. Instead of chasing volume, the founders invested in dealer training, classic table games and personal service. Regular guests were greeted by name; house rules were printed and hung in the lobby rather than hidden in footnotes. Word travelled through Helsinki the old way — from one guest to another — and by 2019 the venue occupied two full floors of the building.

Growth

A Casino Resort Grows Upwards

In 2021 the company purchased the entire building and began its most ambitious chapter: converting the upper floors into a 42-room boutique hotel. The renovation took two years and was carried out with Finnish designers and carpenters, preserving the building's protected façade while adding a sauna wing, a panoramic suite floor and a 240 m² event hall with its own entrance for conferences and celebrations.

When the hotel opened in 2023, Fiksuvalinta became what its founders had sketched on a napkin years earlier — a complete casino resort under one roof: rooms upstairs, a live casino floor at street level, event spaces in between, and a breakfast room serving Karelian pies and locally roasted coffee each morning.

Today Fiksuvalinta Oy is owned by Pohjola Leisure Group Oy, remains fully independent and employs 68 people — dealers, hosts, chefs, housekeepers and event producers — nearly all of them Helsinki locals.

Offline, Always

Fiksuvalinta has never offered — and will never offer — online gambling. Every game in the house is played face-to-face on our physical casino floor, under the eyes of professional dealers and pit managers.

Radical Transparency

Our price list, house rules and table limits are published in the lobby and on this website. Guests always know the cost of a room, the rules of a table and the terms of an event booking before they commit.

Responsibility First

We enforce a strict 18+ policy, offer voluntary self-exclusion and personal limits, and train every team member in responsible gaming. An evening at Fiksuvalinta should end as pleasantly as it begins.
